Shared Lives Learning Awards

NAAPS Learning & Development

NAAPS Level 3 Shared Lives Carer Accreditation (SLCA)

Shared Lives Carers who support someone without a learning disability still have to demonstrate learning and competence against the new Skills for Care (England) Common Induction Standards (CIS). They can do this through Learning the Ropes (LTR). The NAAPS Shared Lives Carer Accreditation (SLCA) is set at Level 3 and is mapped to the National Occupational Standards (NOS) for care. This means that it can be used to provide underpinning knowledge for the NVQ 3 qualification in care should a SL Carer wish to undertake an NVQ.

The Shared Lives Carer Accreditation is also for those who have completed the LDQ Induction Award and want to gain a higher qualification.

The LTR pack (Section 5) contains everything SL Schemes need in order to support SL carers in completing the award, including; all learning materials, workbooks and assessment evidence logs.

The accreditation is awarded by the National Open College Network and moderated by NAAPS Learning & Development.

The Learning Disability Qualification Induction Award (LDQ) Level 2

The LDQ is a nationally recognised qualification and incorporates the new Skills for Care (England) Common Induction Standards (CIS) and therefore by undertaking the new LDQ Induction Award SL Carers are also meeting the new CIS requirements.

The National Minimum Standards (NMS) for SL Schemes in England (formally Adult Placement) state that SL Carer learning should be linked to the Learning Disability Qualification National Occupational Standards (LDQ NOS) as well as the CIS.

The NAAPS Learning the Ropes (LTR) Pre-approval training programme is mapped to both the LDQ and CIS to provide AP Carers with the means of meeting these requirements.

The LTR pack (Section 5) contains everything SL Schemes need in order to support SL carers in completing the award, including; all learning materials, workbooks and assessment evidence logs.

The award is accredited by the National Open College Network and moderating by NAAPS Learning & Development.
