NAAPS Scotland
The NAAPS Scotland Committee has been in existence since 2002 and meets regularly
alternating between venues in Edinburgh and Glasgow.
The Comittee provides an opportunity to discuss and examine Shared Lives practice
issues, particularly those relevant to Scotland. Currently under review are:
- Regulation of Services and Continuous Improvement
- Regulation of the workforce
- Growth and diversification of Shared Lives
Committee membership includes providers of services, both from local authorities
and private organisations and Shared Lives carers.
The Chair of the Committee is a member of the Board of Trustees and ensures that
the interests of the Scotland members are represented on the Board. Scotland
is also represented on the Four Countries Committee which considers regulatory
and legislative issues in the four countries and their impact on Shared Lives
practice.
Since 2008 Scotland has had its own Development Worker, Anne Fernie, funded by

In 2009 Else Wilson was appointed to carry out a two-year project, also funded
by the Scottish Government, aimed at using Shared Lives as a way of supporting
the older family carers of people with a learning disability or autistic spectrum
disorders.
